Moving More

WinterToba Wellness

Last updated: Jan 9, 2026

The WinterToba Challenge is about taking small actions that add up to a healthy new year. And when you share your WinterToba pledge, you’ll be entered to win some great prizes, too!

It could mean:

  • Getting outside for a short walk

  • Adding more movement to your day

  • Focusing on better sleep habits

  • Taking steps to manage stress

  • Catching up on a screening or immunization

  • Trying a new winter activity

Embracing winter movement, the Manitoba way

This season, Getting Healthy has joined in as a Winter Wellness sponsor of The Forks’ Learn to Winter programming, helping Manitobans discover fun, accessible ways to move outdoors all season long.

Learn to Winter programming at The Forks encourages people of all ages and abilities to embrace winter safely and confidently. From skating and snowshoeing to simply learning how to dress for the weather and enjoy time outdoors, the goal is to make winter movement feel welcoming. Learn to Winter happens every weekend through the end of February. Stay tuned to social media (Instagram: @TheForksWinnipeg and Facebook) for any updates due to weather cancellations or changes.

Spending time outside in winter can support both physical and mental health. Even short bursts of outdoor activity can boost mood, reduce stress, and help maintain strength and mobility through the colder months.
